The conference was held at the holy Edneer Mutt, a prestigious seat of the Shankaracharya tradition. H.H. Sri Sri Sachidhanantha Bharathi Swamiji blessed the gathering by performing the lighting of the Anugraha Deepam.
Presided by: Sri K. Kunhimadhavan Kanakathidam (State President, Urala Sabha).
Inaugurated by: Sri K.N. Unnikrishnan Namboothirippad (Chairman, Koodalmanikyam Devaswom Uralma Yogam).
Welcome Address: Sri C.K. Venugopal.
Core Resolutions: Reclaiming Temple Rights
The Sabha presented a historic resolution demanding that temple administration be returned to the Uralars.
Key points included:
Legal & Historical Mandate: Administration belongs to the Uralars—those granted authority by law, history, tradition, and divinity.
Critique of Political Interference: The assembly observed that political leadership within Devaswom Boards has led to “anarchy and abandonment” (arajakathavam and anadhathavam) in temple affairs.
Freedom of Worship: The Devaswom Department must show the maturity to return administrative rights to the original families as protected by the Constitution.
Demands to the Government
The Sabha urged the State Government to recognize its role as a trustee only, not an owner.
Property Rights: The Government has no authority to sell, donate, or reassign temple lands—including those submitted by devotees—under the guise of land reforms.
Cultural Sanctity: Temple management must be led by those with unwavering faith to ensure that everyone, from Thantris to the cleaning staff, is treated with dignity.
