For millennia, our civilization lived in perfect rhythm with the Gau (the cow). She was not property; she was family. The gentle hum of a cow breathing in a courtyard was considered the ultimate protective shield against negative energies, and her presence nurtured both the soil and the human spirit. To care for her was to care for the cosmos.
Today, that rhythm is broken. Modern economic pressures have reduced this sacred being to a mere commercial commodity. When a native cow grows old, or when a farmer can no longer bear the cost of her feed, she faces a silent crisis. When we turn our backs on her, we don't just abandon an animal — we sever our connection to Dharma itself, forgetting the very values that kept our culture alive for generations.
The Gomithra Society was born out of a deep, sorrowful realization of this loss, and an absolute dedication to fix it. We serve as a protective shield, stepping in to relieve traditional farmers and ensuring that these beautiful, gentle souls live their lives in dignity, peace, and love.
A Sanctuary of Peace
On the serene, life-giving banks of the Peruvamba River in Kannur district, a vision has silently taken shape. What was once an empty plot of land is now a sanctuary where the ancient world breathes again.
A Sanctuary Realized
Phase 1 of our Dharma Gaushala is fully operational. It has been built not as a commercial dairy farm, but as a home — equipped to provide loving care, medical attention, and a permanent refuge for a capacity of up to 20 indigenous and miniature cattle.
A Spiritual Blessing
The revered spiritual luminary Nochur Sri Ramana Charana Tirtha Swamigal walked through these grounds. Blessing the cows and the team, Swamiji reminded us that Go Seva (serving the cow) is an effortless path to inner purification. His presence validated that this riverside sanctuary is more than infrastructure — it is a space of living sadhana.
Healing the Landscape
Our long-term commitment goes beyond a single structure. We are working toward a dual model: establishing a 100-cow centralized sanctuary for rescued and rare miniature breeds, while simultaneously building a decentralized community network so local farmers never feel forced to part with their cattle.
To bring this vision to life on our 2.5-acre riverside plot, we are continuously expanding and upgrading our infrastructure:
Silage Cultivation
Dedicated acreage for highly nutritious, self-sustaining cattle feed farming — ensuring our herd grazes on completely organic, pesticide-free fodder while restoring the fertility of the local soil.
Bio-Gas & Solar Infrastructure
Eco-friendly energy solutions that handle waste cleanly and convert Gomaya (dung) and Gomutra (urine) into natural wealth, leaving a pure ecological footprint.
Veterinary Care & Mobility
A primary veterinary first-aid clinic and specialized transport on-site to quickly rescue, treat, and care for distressed or ailing animals in the region.
