17/05/2021: Sree Sankara Jayanti (National Philosophers’ Day – Vaishakha Sukla Panchami) was religiously celebrated on Monday by the Vedic Education Foundation of the Sree Raghavapuram Sabha Yogam, an age-old dharmic organization in Kerala.
In the morning, special jayanti samaradhana rituals were conducted at various parts of Kerala – the birth state of the greatest philosopher, Adi Sankara.
Special Ganapati Havana was held at Kottayam Suryakaladi Mana and Sree Rudrabhishekam at Thrissur Vayalur Mahadeva Temple. Vedic Recitation and Vaisakha Danam were performed at the Brahmaswam Gurukul in Kannur.
Jagad Guru Sankaracharya HH Sri Sri Vijayendra Saraswati Maha Swamigal, Senior Pontiff of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, inaugurated the holy event. HH Maha swamigal observed that Kerala, which has the greatest theological tradition, had guided the country in the past and that heritage should be preserved. HH Maha Swamigal blessed as exemplary the Varnasrama Dharma protection charitable activities of the Sabha Yogam, spread all over Kerala with four Gurukul vedic schools.
Sabha Yogam President and Badrinath former Rawalji HH Brahmasri. Pachamangalam Sreedharan Namboothiri presided over the function. Sampoojya Thekke Madhom Mooppil Swamiyar Srimad Vasudeva Brahmananda Bhooti and Sampoojya Naduvil Madhom Elamura Swamiyar Srimad Achyuthananda Bharati blessed the occasion with their divine speeches.
Renowned vedantic scholar and recipient of the Presidential Award, Dr. KS Maheshwaran Namboothiri made a presentation on Advaita Vedanta and Karma Kanda. He said in the pragmatic world, it is necessary to do one’s deeds with total devotion to Iswara. In the path of liberation, different ways of worship can be followed as per one’s ability and the rules of Dharma.
Sampoojya Edaneer Madhom Mooppil Swamiyar Srimad Sachidananda Bharathi announced the plan of starting a Samaveda Gurukul of Sabha Yogam Veda Vidya Prathishtanam in Kottayam district.
Sampoojya Munchira Madhom Swamiyar Srimad Parameswara Brahmananda Tirtha declared the 6 year Sastra Sikhshan course of Veda Vidya Prathishtanam for Vedic Samhita scholars.
All the four Swamiyars of the Sankara lineage in Kerala called on the society to come forward for the protection of the Vedas, that being a primary responsibility as per Sastras.
The Chief Co-ordinator of Vedic Education Foundation Dr. E.N Eeswaran Namboothiri welcomed the gathering while Vadakkekkara Vadhyan Eswaran Namboothiri, Vice President of Sabhayogam, proposed vote of thanks.
A musical performance was conducted by Sangeetha Sabha Acharyas Attupuram Ajith Namboothiri and Karakkad Govindaprasad. Prominent Vaikans, theologians, astrologers and Sanskrit scholars attended the function.
The programme was conducted online in view of the COVID-19 restrictions. The session was watched by huge number of Sankaracharya devotees from inside and outside Kerala through the Sabha Yogam YouTube channel and other social media.
