The Sabhayogam Today
The Sabhayogam today represents numerous Brahmin families living in India and abroad.
In spite of suffering a decline in the particular socio—political atmosphere of twentieth-century Kerala, the Sabhayogam families have managed to retain their traditionally designated rights in about 40 temples including Sri Raghavapuram. As true followers of Bodhéyana, they are dedicated to the observance of the ’shodasa’ rites. Following a recent rejuvenation, the Sabhayogam has opened a school of Yajurveda near the community temple of Sri Raghavapuram. Seven children are learning the Yajurveda Samhita here under the gurukula system of instruction. The Sabhayogam has been receiving excellent support from various Brahmin organisations, monastic orders and devout Hindus in general.
Future Plans
Rooted firmly in the Sanatana dharma, the Sabhayogam envisages several long-term projects directed towards the enhanced well being of the society and the preservation of the environment — all in the spirit of worship.
1. Sri Raghavapuram Brahmaswom Vedavidyapeetham:
Sri Raghavapuram Brahmaswom Vedavidyapeetham is a grand project intended to groom an elite group of learned Brahmins — dexterous in Sanskrit, the Vedas and their ancillaries, and tantra — who can illuminate the path of dharma for the world after their 12 long years of training under the gurukula system.
2. Sri Bhadrapuram Dharma Patashala for Girls and Sri Saraswati Home of Fine Arts
These institutions are aimed at training the girls in Sanskrit, the epics, the puranas, fine arts and home science in order to maintain the dignity of womanhood and constancy of tradition.
3. Sri Bhargava Educational and Vocational Training Initiatives :
This is to provide modern education and research opportunities and create employment through entrepreneurship.
4. Sri Raghavapuram Constituent Dewaswom Board and Adi Shankara School of Hinduism :
Founding a Dewaswom board uniting associate temples that wish to work in coordination with Sabhayogam and an institute for spiritual and religious learning for Hindus is one of the plans.
5. Sri Bodhayana Centre for Dharmic Rituals :
A nalukettu-style venue for authentic traditional rituals like wedding.
6. Sri Chakrakshalanapuram :
Guest House The guest house is intended to arrange accommodation and food to Sabhayogam members and other devotees on pilgrimage to the ancestral land.
7. Annapoorneswari Agricultural Project and Sri Krishnapuram Cow Protection Shelter :
Wide and decentralised paddy cultivation using indigenous and native seeds, other forms of nature farming and rearing of native cattle breeds.
8. Sri Haripuram Herbal Garden and Research Centre for Home Medicine :
Private wilderness zones need to be created to regenerate the natural proliferation of medicinal herbs now facing extinction. These areas must include natural water bodies. This can be complemented with a research centre for herbal medicine.
9. Sri Gokarna Social Welfare Centre :
This will be a hub for cooperation with the government and like-minded organisations on matters such as healthcare, elderly care, fitness and sports.
10. Perinchelloor Centre for Historical Research :
The Centre will employ modern methods of historiography and archaeology to both study and conserve traditional structures like nalukettus, stepped bathing tanks and palm leaf manuscripts. The objective is the truthful illumination of Kerala history. Attention and assistance of all righteous people is humbly solicited towards the realisation of the projects mentioned above.
