About Lecture Series
The purpose of the lecture series is to impart knowledge about Carnatic Music to all. The topics will be selected in a way that will be useful for Carnatic music students and researchers as well as anyone who wants to know more about Carnatic music. Lectures will be handled by renowned Carnatic Musicians, instrumentalists, researchers, teachers and music critics. The lecture will be conducted in every month on various topics by eminent personalities.
Dr. Bhavana Radhakrishnan
Dr. Bhavana Radhakrishnan is a singer par excellence who tries to bring into her singing a beautiful blend of the lyrical sweetness of light music and the solemnity and profundity of classical music. A singer who handles both these strains of music with equal expertise is a rarity. The study of classical music is a pilgrimage. It is through long years of practice and dedication that a musician evolves a style of her own. The texture of Dr. Bhavana’s voice and the deep rooted knowledge in classical music have helped her to secure a niche of her own among the female singers of Kerala.
This great musician has also established her reputation as a music composer. She is now rising to the level of a professional in this field too. Dr. Bhavana first ventured into the field of music composition as part of training students for competitions at the inter University level.
She has also sung for many professional dramas in Malayalam, T.V. Serials and tele films under the eminent music directors like Dakshina Moorthy, K.Raghavan, Sreekumaran Thampy, Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri, M.K.Arjunan, Perumbavoor G.Raveendranath Menon, K.P. Udayabhanu, M.G. Radhakrishnan, Murali Sithara,Mohan Sithara, R. Somashekaran, S. Balakrishnan, M. Jayachndran, Remesh Narayanan, Kaithapram Viswanathan, Balabhaskar etc… She has given a number of vocal concerts and ganamelas in India and abroad. Besides this she has sung for many Hindu and Christian Devotional Cassettes and two Classical Music Albums ‘Manoranchitham and Swara Sudha’. Her Cassettes on ‘Bhagavan Sree Sathya SaiBaba bhajans’, ‘Lalitha Sahasra Namam and ‘Badareesha Suprabhatham’ are the favourites of devotees.
