Jwala ’26, a three-day residential camp aimed at fostering moral values and social responsibility in the younger generation, was successfully organized under the leadership of the Sreeraghavapuram Sabha Yogam, Kasaragod District Committee. Guided by the Family Welfare Department, the camp was held from April 24 to 26 within the serene and sacred precincts of the Edneer Mutt. The primary sessions took place at the Edneer HHSIB Swamiji’s Higher Secondary School.
Day 1: A Spiritual Awakening
The camp commenced on Friday, April 24, with the registration of 68 students from various age groups. The official inauguration was marked by the lighting of the traditional lamp by Shri Shri Yogananda Saraswati Swamiji of Uppala Shri Nityananda Yogashram. In an inspiring keynote address, Swamiji emphasized the importance of holistic development for children.
The afternoon featured an ‘Ice Breaking’ session titled Koottukoodam, which helped the participants build new friendships and settle into the camp environment. The first day drew to a peaceful close with evening prayers and soulful Bhajans.
Day 2: Tradition Meets Modernity
The second day began with a visit to the Edneer Vishnumangalam Vishnu Temple, followed by morning Yoga. A highlight of the morning was ‘Geethamrutham’, where the children themselves recited verses from the Bhagavad Gita. This was followed by a powerful Veda Bhajan performance by the students of the Sreeraghavapuram Sabhayogam Vedapathashala.
The sessions then shifted toward practical life skills:
Cyber Security: The Kerala Police Department conducted a session titled Valakkannikal, educating children on the safety and risks of the digital world.
Mental Well-being: A session titled Manassu Thurakkam (Open Your Mind) encouraged children to express themselves through fun and thought-provoking activities.
Creative Arts: The afternoon session, Kazhchavattom, introduced participants to the nuances of art and photography.
Agriculture: In a hands-on workshop, children were trained in agricultural techniques like Grafting and Budding, which they practiced with great enthusiasm.
The day concluded with ‘Arivinte Lokam’, a class dedicated to Indian heritage and culture, followed by a vibrant cultural program showcased by the campers.
Day 3: Conclusion and Blessings
The final day opened with Yoga and Vedic chanting. The highlight was the ‘Vismayathumbathu’ session—a mix of play, laughter, and deep life lessons. During the review session, the children shared heartwarming stories of their three-day experience.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by the divine presence of the Edneer Mutt Moopil Swamiyar, Shri Sachidananda Bharathi Swamigal. Swamiyar offered words of wisdom and personally distributed certificates to all participants.
Key Highlights
The success of the camp was largely due to the complete support and cooperation of the Edneer Mutt and Swamiyar. All logistics, including nutritious meals and accommodation, were personally supervised by the Mutt.
By stepping away from digital screens for three days, these 68 children were able to reconnect with nature, art, and tradition, making Jwala ’26 a truly transformative experience
