This Vishu was an auspicious day for the health and social welfare wing of RPSY. This day, we provided Vishu kit for 50 restitutes living on the streets and Vishu sadya (noon meals) for 150 including these men in co-operation with Kerala police.
This was conducted as part of the project of the Kannur police department named “Akshayapathram” (hungerless, beggingless town). The function was presided over by our Sabhayogam president Shri. Pachamangalam Sreedharan Namboodiri, past Ravalji of Bhadrinath and inaugurated by Shri. Arun Narayanan, Kannur town Sub Inspector of Police
Those who were present on the occasion included, Shri. Saji V P, Kannur district President of Blood Donors Kerala, member Shri. Bushra Chirakkal, Suhail Chattiyol, Nauphal Inspire. Representing the Sabhayogam were Shri. Unni Puthur, Shri.Eswaran Namboodiri Egda Neelamana, Shri. Mankulam Sumesh and Shri. Unnikrishnan Cherukudalillam.
After this, feasts were served for about 10 persons found hungry and waiting for food at the Kannur old Bus stand area.
Then the team reached the Kannur harbour area where tasty meals were provided for about 90 persons from the harbour engaged in the fishing who included some who had taken part in rescue operation during the last flood.
It is an occasion like this, when we ourselves become a part of the movement as volunteers that we realize the importance of food and giving(Annam and Daanam).
With a great sense of gratitude for having made this Vishu day so special.
