Vedapatasala Inaugurated at Trichambaram Naduvilmadom

A Gurukula Vedapatasala, sponsored by Sreeraghavapuram Sabhayogam, has been started at Trichambaram Naduvilmadom on 30th May 2023.

Trichambaram is having an unique conglomeration of four Matoms established by the direct disciples of Jagadguru Aadi Sankara before 12th century for Vedic education and propagation of Advaita concept.

Of these, Naduvilmadom was established by Sureswara Acharya for Yajurveda learning.

The Trichambaram Madam complex, having glorious past, was in a dilapidated condition with collapsed building for the last several decades. The building was recently reconstructed with direction of Trissur Naduvil Madom Junior Pontiff HH Achutha Bharathi Swamiyar. The new Patasala, in the traditional style of learning, is functioning in the renovated premises.

The inaugural session was started by lighting the traditional lamp by Brahmashri Naduvath Pudayur Vasudevan Namboodiri. Brahmashri Edamana Vasudevan Namboodiri, Manager Trissur Naduvil Madom, formally inaugurated the session. Brahmashri Meppally Narayanan Namboodiri, president of Trichambaram Patasala Committee, presided. Dr T C G Namboodiri, President of Sreeraghavapuram Sabhayogam and Brahmashri Parappur Karthiyedath Narayanan Namboodiri, President T T K Devaswam, spoke on the occasion. The audience was welcomed by Brahmashri Madathil Mallissery Esanan Namboodiri and Brahmashri K. Sreekanth Bhattathiri gave vote of thanks.

The begining of the Veda studies was formally done by Sabhayogam Acharyas S/S Amallur Samgamesan Namboodiri, Kizhanallur Bhavan Namboodiri Moodamana Vivek Embranthiri. In the early morning. Ganapathy Havan was done by Brahmashri Pudayur Jayanarayan Namboodiri. Veda chanting by students from Ramapadam and Chettur Vedapatasalas glorified the occasion.

Currently, Sabhayogam is running two Yajurveda Vedapatasalas in Kannur District and one Samaveda Patasala in Kottayam District. Trichambaram patasala is the fourth one.

The new Patasala is having 8 inmates as students. They will undergo a six year course for yajurveda Samhita studies followed by higher studies in Vedanta as per plan of education in Trichambaram patasala. The Veda studies, spreading around 12 years, is planned along with modern education for the students.
