Under the auspices of Sri Raghavapuram Committee for the Protection of Hindu Traditions, the musical treatise ‘Tyagaraja Ramayanam’ was presented as part of the monthly knowledge conclave.
The novel programme was presented by Thamarassery Ishwaran Bhattathiri, who is an ‘aasthana vidwan’ at Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham.
The performance consisted of the narration of the legend of Lord Ram through the kritis of Tyagaraja, along with a delineation of the aspects of bhakti.
The day’s performance included the narration up to Seethaswayamvaram.
Students of the Girls’ School of Traditional Instruction recited the prayer.
The welcome address was delivered by Omanayam Chettoor Krishnan Naboodiri, member of the administrative committee.

The five-year musical curriculum for the Girls’ School was unveiled by Sangeetaratnam Thamarassery Ishwaran Bhattathiri.
The artists Thamarassery Ishwaran Bhattathiri, Payyanur Govindaprasad Namboodiri (mridangam) and Balaraj (violin) were felicitated with the golden shawl by Pachamangalm Sreedharan Namboodiri, Sambhanda Periyamana Sankaran Namboodiri and Dr Varanacode Govindan Namboodiri respectively.
